girl with roses

The official "next" project has begun, now that the Emily Osment rug is finished.  I think this one is cute... thoughts?

Emily Osment rug finished.

Finished my latest 3 month rug project.  This one staring EMILY OSMENT.  I'm trying to get her attention...hopefully I can send it to her so I can get a picture of her and the rug together.  Maybe a note from her as well... (wishful thinking...)  Emily, if you read this, contact me at blwolters@hotmail.com and let me know where I can send this rug for a 'photo op'?  Would love a pic of you holding it/laying on it/feeding it to Joe...whatever. LOL.   Send it back later, or keep it.  All I want is the photo and bragging rights...okay!   Always a fan, ever since Hannah Montana.  Love your comedic timing.

My neighbour, Gord, went BIG after I convinced him to try out a rug project.  I took his original photo (tan background) and changed the background to light blue, made up a rug plan on my computer and let him at it after some brief instructions on how to create and finish a latchook rug.  I think his results are pretty impressive.  Pictured are his son, daughter in law and grandson.  What do you think?  The "G" in the lower right corner was his idea. LOL.
Just so you know...I have another secret rug project on the go as well... I'll post pictures once it's been gifted to the person I'm doing it for. (dec. 25th, 2015)  Meanwhile, it's a secret.  Not posting any more details, or progress photos or anything else about it...because I know she checks my pages and my blog.  Stay tuned!
Emily Osment rug is coming along nicely.  Thoughts?  Opinions?  Suggestions for my next project?  I want to hear from you!

New (public) Rug Project.

My next rug project, this is a photo of Emily Osment.  I've mapped out the grid and printed it, and I've ordered the yarn to start working on this rug.  I think it will be one of my better ones.

The Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting rug is finally finished!

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting. My biggest latch hook rug yet! SO...what's next?

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting latch hook rug. My goal is to get a photo of her holding the rug (minimum) and/or to get the rug to appear in The Big Bang Theory show somehow. Can you help? Fist I need someone's attention from the show. Then I need an address where they'll be expecting it, or it will be returned (that's expensive). Call it fan art, or a prop...it's to show appreciation for a wonderful actress, and an awesome show. Thanks!

The next rug project I'm working on is the "Kaley Cuoco" rug. I hope it turns out well, as I'm planning to send it to her once it's done. I'm going to ask if it can be slipped into the props on the "Big Bang Theory" show and make it onto TV. That would be fun. Right?

Here's the pixelated image I'm working from:

The original picture that I'm using to base the rug image on...

Amsterdam rug finished.

Yes, it's the "Amsterdam" rug. IT is finished! What do you think?

My latest rug project progress...

This is a rug image of a painting I found online. The original looks like this...

It's a painting of a canal and bridge in Amsterdam, Holland. ...as far as I know. I liked it because of the bold colours and subject matter. It should be a finished rug soon, and I will post pictures of the finished project once it's done.

The BEST rug I've ever made (so far.)

I found this picture of Michelle Trachtenberg.  (I was a big fan of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer")  She's so beautiful, and her face seemed to lend itself to my art.  I picked a picture out, this one:

And... after I did my magic to it, and slaved at turning it into a rug masterpiece... this happened:

Some of my older posts in my blog here go into more detail of the process, but for now, lets just say... I make a graph, assign some coloured yarn to each "pixel" and then knot the yarn into a canvas grid until there's a complete "Heirloom handmade wall hanging rug".  Hope you like my art!

Some new rug art...

This is the original concept picture for a "Hilary Duff" rug, it's been shrunk to show pixelation so I can choose colours and thread count for the rug.

...and here's the finished "Hilary Duff" rug on my wall.

Here we have the finished "White Horse" rug.

I think it turned out well, using this original image to design the rug.

Here's the "Skipper" rug made of two images of the family dog, Skipper.

My friend, Tom, hard at work on the "Skipper" rug, while I worked on my next project.

My current rug project, "SV Et Al" has been stored over the summer, but is now out and ready for work to continue.

Here's the "Charmed" rug with some lifesize standups of Alyssa and Rose (holding the original image)
And... a younger me, showing off the "Charmed" rug at a store in the local mall.

The following images have fascinated me, and I've put them on the  hot list for possible future rug projects.

This colourful image is a painting of Amsterdam, Holland.  I think it would make a beautiful rug.

The Latest Rugs...

Here's some pictures of the latest rugs I've designed and got finished.

The S.V. EtAl under full sail off Victoria, BC.  Captain B. L. Wolters
This rug is a work in progress.

Artistic rug of my dog Skipper.

The "Michelle Trachtenberg Rug" (one of my best so far...)

The "Alyssa Milano and Horse Rug"
Some people say they can't see the horse... I don't understand...?
 Can you see the horse?

The "Rose McGowan Rug" or "Charmed Rug"
Actually there are three girls in this image, Rose is in the foreground,
Holly Marie Combs is 'in blue' to the left, and
Alyssa Milano is 'in the water' between Rose and Holly.

Here's the original image I used where you can see the other girls clearer.

There's another rug in the works right now of a white horse, and plans for the next rug after that will be a colourful image based on a painting of the canals of Amsterdam, Holland.

The "Michelle" (Trachtenberg) Rug

A work of art, of compassion, of love.

The "Michelle Rug"  Inspired by an image of Michelle Trachtenberg.

This photo on the bottom here is the inspiration for the rug art.  Let me know if you like my art, or if there's an image you would like to see my attempt... here in the comments below.   Or you can email me directly at blwolters@hotmail.com (subject: rug art)

Progress continues on my latest rug art:

I'm actually a little further along on the rug now... this photo was taken yesterday and I worked on the rug some more last night.  I get to a point with these where I just want to get them done and see the end result.
The above rug is being made using a photo of Michelle Trachtenberg which I found online.
Here are a few pictures of my finished rugs:

This rug is an old picture I had on my computer of Alyssa Milano and one of her horses.  You'd have to ask her which horse it was, as I've forgotten it's name.

The rug above, the "Charmed" rug, features Rose McGowan.  It's one of the first rugs I've done to my own design.  This rug has been to Hollywood and the set of Charmed when the show was still being filmed.  I had expected Rose to keep the rug, but she returned it with a thank you note and an autographed photo.

The above image is the graph/plan for a rug currently in the process of being made by a friend of mine.  It's one of my designs and features my dog, "Skipper".  I'll show more images of this rug as progress is made.

This picture of a sailboat is the next rug I plan to make.  It's my artistic representation of the boat S.V. EtAl which I had lived aboard and sailed for a number of years on the west coast.

Latchhooking How-To Video

Here's a video from MaryMaxim about how to do Latchhooking:
